UKM Autism Run 2014 (6th April 2014)

Are you geared up for April, the official autism awareness month?

My family and I were really excited as the first autism-awareness event this month is the UKM Autism Run 2014! Prior to this event, the three of us had collected our race kit on 30/3/2014 at Kolej Tun Syed Nasir, UKM KL.

With my cutie-pie who is also my full-time supporter!
We arrived at the location for the UKM Autism Run at about 7:00 am. What a beautiful Sunday morning it was at Lake Titiwangsa. And the crowd was huge! I was so happy (and touched) by the number of participants who turned up so early in the morning to give support to the run and autism awareness campaign as a whole.

All three of us signed-up for the 5 km run. But we decided to follow the 2.8 km route because I was so exhausted! My son at least had his two-wheeled scooter to help him :)

Let these pictures do the talking!

Blue balloons. Why blue?
Light It Up Blue (LIUB) is a unique global initiative to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism. Light it Up Blue was launched by Autism Speaks in 2010 in support of World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD), which takes place on April 2.

Wow. Look at the crowd!

Hooray! We made it though to the finish line and each of us got finishing medals!

Can't believe we finished the race in one piece!

The three of us and the green scooter.

That's right peeps. Drink Milo to keep you energized throughout the day :) All participants had a free-flow supply of iced-Milo during the Run. Bliss..

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
