Here is my story.

I am a researcher and I also teach undergraduate and postgraduate students at a local university. Currently I am on secondment at Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi in Putrajaya.

And these are some of the photos of me in my elements, doing what I love the most.

After receiving my B.Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering, I have gained more than 12 years of experience working in an academic institution, primarily focusing on robotics and automation. I am also an active advocate to promote robotics technology to the society. Recently I organized the โ€˜FKP Robotics Open Day 2017โ€™, which included robotic competitions and exhibitions for kindergarten, primary school and university students.

My greatest achievement was when I pioneered a new methodology in human-robot interaction (HRI) where a humanoid robot is used for the rehabilitation of children with autism at the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur. Many outstanding achievements have been produced throughout this project. This includes my accomplishment of being awarded full scholarship for the Summer School on Social Human-robot Interaction in August 2013 at Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Here I was the only representative from Malaysia, hence the nationโ€™s ambassador in this world-class event. Through the same project, I received a gold medal during the Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (iidex2015) in Universiti Teknologi MARA with the project title: โ€˜Clinical application of humanoid robots for children with disabilitiesโ€™. I also won the first prize in the UiTM Three Minute Thesis competition (UiTM 3MT 2015) in the Engineering/Science Technology category with my presentation titled โ€˜Robots and Autismโ€™.

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a masterโ€™s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or โ€˜PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of studentsโ€™ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16โ€”the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
