Random Ramblings: The 4's of Fantastic PhD

Assalam and hi :)

Comic from www.phdcomics.com :)

I am now officially in my final semester of PhD study. Being where I am now and looking back to the first day I started my study in HuRoBs lab (in August 2011), I have come out with the combination of the 4 elements that will make a fantastic PhD experience. These thoughts are entirely my own opinion and I'll take the time to elaborate more on this later.

The four elements are subsets of 3 main components of a PhD: 1) the doctorate candidate, 2)the supervisor and of course 3) the research topic.

The recipe for a stress-free PhD.
Also, I believe that one's success is also not heavily related to the university or institution where the study is being conducted. A lot of people out there may not agree with this statement but lets agree to disagree ya.

Remember to always love you PhD and enjoy the journey :)

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

hi there :) The manufacturer of the humanoid robot NAO; Aldebaran Robotics had reached another fantastic milestone regarding their contribution to the autism community worldwide.  ASK NAO (Autism Solution for Kids) was created by Aldebaran Robotics to customize NAO, in order to support teachers with in-class tasks and help children with autism reach new levels of greatness. http://asknao.aldebaran-robotics.com/ This initiative was developed after noticing that many children with autism seem 'magically' attracted to technology therefore allowing NAO to become the perfect bridge between technology and our human social world. ASK NAO  is designed for schools and healthcare institutions  ready to drive special education into the future. NAO becomes a real user-friendly assistant to support teachers with daily in-class tasks, facilitate communication with parents, and bridges the gap with children with autism so they can reach new l...
