INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON AUTISM (ISAM) 2014 “AUTISM IS NOT A TRAGEDY, IGNORANCE IS”, 22– 23 April 2014, Putrajaya, Malaysia

Assalam and hi again :) April is officially the Autism Awareness month. A host of activities had been lined up by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM), Makmal Autisme UKM and also the PERMATA program. I believe, the main aim was to create and enhance the awareness on this neuro-developmental disease which has recorded an average prevalence of about 1% in Asia, Europe, and North America (refer here ). I have lined up all the activities in this previous post . The most anticipated event was of course the International Seminar on Autism 2014 which was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Malaysia, from 22 to 23 April 2014. I am uploading the pictures first and hopefully I will be able to elaborate on the full 2-day event soon. FYI, all the notes from plenary and workshop speakers during ISAM2014 can be downloaded at this link . The main roads leading to PICC Putrajaya was literally full with IS

Nao Robot Goes to School to Help Kids With Autism

hi there :) The manufacturer of the humanoid robot NAO; Aldebaran Robotics had reached another fantastic milestone regarding their contribution to the autism community worldwide.  ASK NAO (Autism Solution for Kids) was created by Aldebaran Robotics to customize NAO, in order to support teachers with in-class tasks and help children with autism reach new levels of greatness. http://asknao.aldebaran-robotics.com/ This initiative was developed after noticing that many children with autism seem 'magically' attracted to technology therefore allowing NAO to become the perfect bridge between technology and our human social world. ASK NAO  is designed for schools and healthcare institutions  ready to drive special education into the future. NAO becomes a real user-friendly assistant to support teachers with daily in-class tasks, facilitate communication with parents, and bridges the gap with children with autism so they can reach new levels of greatness.
