The 2016 National Robotics Competition at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (23-25 September 2016)

Assalamualaikum

Hi everyone!

Wow. September 2016 was a really manic month for us at the faculty. New students coming in, classes starting and researches to monitor as well. Not forgetting Eid Adha celebration too :)

It was a frenzied situation for me too as there were three events organized/co-organized by IEEE RAS Malaysia that needs full support from its ExCom members. For these three robotic events, we need to be in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Seri Iskandar, Perak as it was the main venue. And the main program was 'Robot Fiesta Malaysia 2016'. Awesome, right?

Here are the pictures from the first event which was the NRC. I'll cover the other two in my next post.

The Robot Fiesta Malaysia 2016 comprises of 3 major events:

1. National Level Robotics Competition (NRC), 23-25 Sept 2016 @ Chancellor Hall
Main Sponsor : Ministry of Education | Technical Sponsor : Sasbadi Sdn Bhd | Venue Sponsor : UTP | http://nrc.sasbadi.com

2. International Robotics Competition (PRIDE) 2016, 25 Sept 2016 @ Chancellor Complex

3. 2nd ROMA International Symposium 2016, 25-26 Sept 2016 @ Undercroft, Chancellor Complex

Wish me luck! “ Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler. ” ~Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) The only constant thing in this life is change. Hence, new beginnings, and new adventures for me. Let's do this!  💃🏻 My last day at the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, UTeM, Melaka (June 2023) Reminiscing: my last working day at the Department of Higher Education, MOHE, Putrajaya (September 2022) For any proposals to collaborate just reach out to me at syamimi.s@usm.my. ✌

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
