FKP Mechatronics Design Competition 2016: Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) on 25th May 2016

Hello there

An exciting event took place in our faculty recently:

The Department of Robotics and Automation FKP was proud to organize the Mechatronics Design Competition on 25th May 2016 at the Mechatronics Lab. This is an annual event under the subject BFA3503 where students in groups of 5 or 6 will need to design and develop a robot and compete to find the fastest one to accomplish the given tasks. The 2016 theme is Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV).

Competition Objective: The AGV robot is required to pick up TWO (2) different loads at the pick-up station and deliver the load to its designated stations. List of tasks:

-The AGV will start at the designated starting point
-Then, the AGV is required to pick up a load at a pick-up station
-The AGV will send it to the first machine
-Next, the AGV need to travel back to the pick-up station, pick the second load and deliver it to the second machine
-Each machine station requires different types of load

After both machines have been loaded, the AGV needs to return back to its start zone

Special thank you for valuable help from these wonderful people

Meet the winning team!

Each team is represented by 2 members to enter the gamefield

Alhamdulillah the whole event was carried out successfully with valuable help from FKP staffs and postgraduate students. It is very satisfying to see the students' ability to develop their own robots and work in a team.

To wrap up, I am very happy to share with you this awesome video compiled by one of our talented students. Enjoy!

🌻 NEW BEGINNINGS 🌸

Assalamualaikum wbth and good day hi everyone!  It is now July 2023 and I’m so excited to start this new chapter in my life 😊. I am happy to share that I am now a lecturer/researcher at the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang. Wish me luck! “ Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler. ” ~Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) The only constant thing in this life is change. Hence, new beginnings, and new adventures for me. Let's do this!  💃🏻 My last day at the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, UTeM, Melaka (June 2023) Reminiscing: my last working day at the Department of Higher Education, MOHE, Putrajaya (September 2022) For any proposals to collaborate just reach out to me at syamimi.s@usm.my. ✌

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
