First Collaborative Meeting with Puan Husna Ahmad Ainuddin from the Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM

Assalamualaikum

Hello peeps.

One of perks of doing research or being an postgraduate student in a university such as UiTM is the extensive opportunities available for multi-disciplinary studies. So far our team has been blessed with a successful collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and thus enable us to reach a huge breakthrough in our initial study on robotic intervention for children with autism.

Now, our latest project at the HuRoBs lab is to come up with an Android app for smartphones and tablets to control the humanoid robot NAO. Alhamdulillah, this app which has been developed by Azfar is now fully functional. The next step is for someone from the medical or health sciences team to test this application as it was meant to enable them to use this robot as tool during autism intervention activities. As we are very much aware of, non-technical people do not have the time to program the robot by themselves due to their busy schedule. Plus some might even find the task to be difficult.

We were very happy to receive a short visit on 20/08/2014  from Puan Husna Ahmad Ainuddin who is a lecturer from the Faculty of Health Sciences, UiTM. She is an occupational therapist. Coincidentally, her research interest is in Pediatric Occupational Therapy.

During this meeting we had the golden opportunity to get input from Puan Husna on her first impressions when meeting NAO for the first time, the usability of the new Android app and also opportunities for future research collaborations.

Thank you Puan Husna for coming to our humble lab and lets start the collaboration soon!

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g
