#20March2017 Graduation Ceremony for Lean Six Sigma Certification (Yellow Belt)

Assalamualaikum

Recently, a simple ceremony was organized by FKP to hand-over certificates to FKP staff and students who have successfully completed the Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt) Training held over nine training sessions from November 2016 until March 2017.

Six Sigma is a method that provides organizations tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation lead to defect reduction and improvement in profits, employee morale, and quality of products or services. Six Sigma quality is a term generally used to indicate a process is well controlled (within process limits ±3s from the center line in a control chart, and requirements/tolerance limits ±6s from the center line).

In a nutshell, 45 staffs and 205 FKP students have passed the Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt) Training. One of the current requirements in the manufacturing industry is the theoretical and practical knowledge on Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt). This certification has been widely used in industries as it provides a way to save and offset costs in a company's operations.

For that, FKP has succeeded in successfully preparing the students before entering the marketplace by organizing the Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt) Training for all 4th year students and FKP staff. This Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt) Training can not be implemented without the support and guidance and cooperation from Infineon Technologies (M) Melaak Sdn Bhd, Mr Mok Fock Lin, Ms Tee Seew Xian, selected FKP staffs from various departments and students and of course, commitments from the final year FKP students.

Wassalam.

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
