My Very First Podcast and Youtube Interview: MARii Mobility World : Robotics Education - How Early Is "Too Early"?

Assalamualaikum and hello readers

Two weeks ago, I got a Whatsapp text from one of my colleagues from the Malaysia Robotics & Automation Society (MyRAS): Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azizi Abdul Rahman. He invited me to be his comrade during a podcast and video interview organized by The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii). The topic will revolve around robotics education in Malaysia.

I definitely said "Yes!" to that invitation. Alhamdulillah, the online recording went smoothly using Zoom.

On the 27th September 2021, the podcast and YouTube video were officially posted online by MARii.

Thank you so much to MARii and to our lovely host: Miss Azaria Tagaya for having us on-board. I truly hope that we have answered the questions well without being too technical or boring to listeners :)

I hope this can be counted as a small step towards positive advocation on how enjoyable and beneficial robotics education is to our young generation.

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
