FKP UTeM and FKP UMP Strengthens Strategic Alliance by Co-organizing Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and Mechatronics 2018 (SympoSIMM 2018)

Assalamualaikum

Hi everyone and happy new year 2018!

Again, another hectic year, but I am feeling energetic, more wonderful things shall take place this year insyaAllah :)

Recently on 29th January 2018 my colleagues and I with a group of our fantastic postgraduate students went to Universiti Malaysia Pahang (Pekan Campus) to attend a conference which was co-organized by the Faculty of Manufacturing UMP and Faculty of Manufacturing UTeM. We went by bus and had loads of fun and awesome experience.

Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and Mechatronics or for short SympoSIMM2018 is an annual event jointly organized by FKP UTeM and FKP UMP. UMP is the host this year and UTeM shall become the host for 2019.

This year’s theme emphasized on mechatronics and the world due to the calling of Industrie 4.0. For this first installation, 120 paper submissions were received and 65 were accepted, recording an acceptance rate of 54%. The symposium proceedings will be published in Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering (a Scopus-indexed series published by Springer). The keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff on ‘The Idea of  Mechatronics’.

The symposium concluded at about 4 pm same day with happy faces on all participants. We truly appreciated the warm welcome by the UMP SympoSIMM team and kudos to them for a well organized event.

Wish me luck! “ Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler. ” ~Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) The only constant thing in this life is change. Hence, new beginnings, and new adventures for me. Let's do this!  💃🏻 My last day at the Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, UTeM, Melaka (June 2023) Reminiscing: my last working day at the Department of Higher Education, MOHE, Putrajaya (September 2022) For any proposals to collaborate just reach out to me at syamimi.s@usm.my. ✌

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
