Walk For Autism 2016, November 5th 2016, 7:00 am to 12:00 pm at Taman Metropolitan (Taman Layang-Layang) Kepong

Assalamualaikum

Dear readers,

Here's a super short post about the Walk for Autism program on 5th Nov 2016, an annual event by NASOM that I could never miss :)

These are the brief intro on the Walk taken from NASOM official website:
"There is no other event like the NASOM Walk for Autism 2016. Everybody is included and no one is left behind. Walking together, hand in hand with kids of all ages with autism and other disabilities, some even in wheelchairs. Walking with Malaysians from all walks of life regardless of age, colour, gender, religion, ancestral origin, ethnic group, social status, profession, income levels, even with expatriates and foreign visitors. It is what our society should be – inclusive.
NASOM Walk for Autism 2016 will be hosted by NASOM Gombak centre located at Taman Rowther, Gombak, previously located at Setapak Garden. The NASOM Walk for Autism 2016 will be held at Taman Metropolitan (Taman Layang-Layang), Kepong on Saturday 5 November 2016.
Walk for Autism is NASOM’s annual signature event that is now in its 6th year. It is our way of raising autism awareness by giving members of the society the opportunity to get to know kids with autism and other disabilities in a natural environment. By the way, other NGOs, charities and non-profits supporting kids with autism and other disabilities do walk with us too.
We need to raise initial funds, sponsorship and other forms of contribution to help pay for the t-shirts that have become collectors items, goodies, goodies bags, etc. that participants have come to expect when they join our walk. All funds raised through this event will be used to improve our autism intervention services and centre facilities for the benefit of children with autism attending our centres.
Any amount of donation is welcomed. Minimum donation of RM60 for walk to qualify for t-shirt, goody bag, goodies, lucky draw and contest.
Payment can be made to CIMB Bank Account:
The National Autism Society of Malaysia, Account No : 8002 6462 41"

My family and I had a jolly good time! And we totally love the venue: Taman Metropolitan (Taman Layang-Layang) Kepong. Kudos to NASOM for the awesome organization of the whole program.

Can't wait for next year's Walk!

Me, Mikhail with Puan Mano from NASOM Titiwangsa and Puan Mariyam, Manager of NASOM

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. Picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Another picture take from IPSis UiTM's Facebook page Now, what is a hooding ceremony? It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'. The hooding ceremony and recognition of students’ accomplishments draw attention to the scholarly and the personal achievements of the candidates for g...

EMC 311 MECHATRONICS: PROJECT EVALUATION DAY ON 9TH JULY 2024

Assalamualaikum and hi everyone Time seems to slip away when you're knee-deep in excitement. It's not that the clock ticks faster, but you're so engrossed that hours feel like minutes. Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday that the semester kicked off with so much promise. We've hit Week 16—the final stretch for undergraduate students at USM this semester. For those in the EMC 311 Mechatronics course, this week was all about the ultimate showdown: the evaluation of their mobile robot projects, which make up a cool 10% of their total grade. Picture this: robots zipping around, tackling tasks, detecting obstacles, and following lines like tiny mechanical superheroes. The project isn't just about grades; it's a chance for students to flex their mechanical, programming, and problem-solving muscles in a hands-on, team-driven environment. Since day one, these future tech wizards have been split into 40 groups, working week by week to piece together their ro...
