Konvensyen Sains Islam Peringkat Antarabangsa Kali Ke II (KONGSI’16) atau 2nd International Convention on Islam, Science & Education on 6 October 2016 at USIM

Assalamualaikum

Last week I had the opportunity to visit Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) campus in Nilai for the first time. Alhamdulillah I get to present my paper at the 2nd International Convention on Islam, Science & Education (KONGSI'16).

I presented a paper based on the work of my final year student. It was a good project on industrial robot and his work deserves to be published :)

I woke up really early as the registration started at 8:00 am. The journey from Melaka took about 1 hour and 15 minutes. At the lobby of FPQS (the conference venue), many participants were already queuing up. My session was at 9:00 am. Alhamdulillah the session went well and I was so happy as I get to meet an old friend and made new friends as well.

Enjoy the pictures!

My turn to talk!
Keynote Speaker 1: Prof Dato' Dr Mohd Yusof Hj Othman, Director of Institute of Islam Hadhari, UKM. His keynote address was truly an eye opener. One hour was not enough for him to elaborate on 'Towards an Excellent Future in Science and Islam"
After the opening ceremony, a representative from Kurdistan requested to present a special token bearing the country's symbols to the USIM DVC, Dean of FPQS and Prof Dato' Dr Mohd Yusof Hj Othman
This is me with Kak Ruby. The last time we met was in 2005 in an aeroplane from Paris to East Midlands Airport

Looking forward to next year's KONGSI'17 insya Allah.

What is a hooding ceremony?

I have always been intrigued by this event called 'the hooding ceremony' since I began my student life in UiTM about 3 years ago. This term always come to my attention and 'pops out' during the UiTM convocation ceremony. Yesterday I saw a post on the hooding ceremony (again) when my other half was browsing through IPSis UiTM's FB page. IPSis wrote that 52 PhD graduates had successfully completed their studies in UiTM and will receive their scroll in the 81st convocation ceremony. It is simply a ceremony held for students graduating with a master’s or PhD degree. The placing of the hood signifies the passage from student to 'master's' or ‘PhD'.
